Search Engine Optimisation

In simple terms SEO is the process of improving your website to increase its visibility on search engines like Google or Microsoft Bing.Higher ranked websites will appear at the top as a search result. In this blog I’ll be giving you 10 ways you can boost you websites ranking.   1. Fast Website Loading Speed A study by Neil Patel shows pages that rank at the top of Google’s first page tend to load faster than the ones on the bottom of page 1.    2. Improve Dwell Time If people leave your page quickly, Google will assume that people don’t like your page. This causes them to rank it lowly. One way to prevent people from leaving your page quickly is embedding videos on your page. Pages with video have an 11.2% better bounce rate than those without a video (Dean, 2023).   3. Why Companies Fail to Implement Information Systems

Companies have often struggled with Information Systems Implementation for many reasons, and these challenges can vary depending on the size of the information system, industry and specific requirements an organisation might demand from the information system. Here are some of the issues companies encounter when attempting to implement Information Systems:

Incompatibility with Existing Systems

Companies may struggle to integrate new systems with existing ones. Many information systems involve complex software and hardware configurations that can be difficult to work with. For example, a company implementing an enterprise resource planning system may face difficulties integrating it with legacy systems. This complexity can lead to technical glitches and delays.

Resistance to Change

Employees can resist new information systems due to fear of losing their jobs, discomfort with technology or reluctance to change established work processes that they’re used to.

Apple Computer Inc. experienced this when they embarked on a massive, ambitious effort to install SAP ERP software to manage its business activities. However, many of Apple’s executives were wary of ERP implantation. They felt it was uneccessary and they resisted the change. Senior management were reluctant to the implantation and their attitude trickled down to many of the operational staff.

Three years later, after millions of dollars had been spent, the project was in such bad shape that the company decided to scrap it.

Poor Project Management

Effective project management is essential for successful information system implementation. Without it, projects can go over the budget and become disorganised and chaotic. Years could go by with very little progress being made.

Since 1998, the US Navy has lost over $1 billion on implementation only four ERP systems, which all failed.

To mitigate these challenges, companies should invest in careful planning, senior management engagement and effective project management throughout the Information Systems process.
